The Average User Is a Bad Bet

Neutral systems often hide an assumed mind, then misread people who do not match it.

The form looks neutral.

So does the interview.

So does the meeting.

So does the help page, the onboarding flow, the open-plan office, the performance review, the customer portal, the team ritual, the classroom task, the intake process, the app that asks for one more verification code as if your patience were a renewable public utility.

None of it says: this was built for one kind of mind.

It does not have to.

The assumption is already inside the design.
